Scuttling,
With brown and blackened
Cloaks, draped over their little bodies.
They crave the darkness
They clean themselves so
Meticulously.
And yet!
You say they are vermin
Because they crept
Out of the leaf-litter
And into our filth.
Did you know,
They’re some of the few animals
That give birth?
They live,
Socially,
Families and groups in
Every nook and cranny.
It’s so interesting,
In some way,
Are we not more
Than massive roaches?
